Purdue offers agricultural economic information

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The fall issue of the Purdue Agricultural Economics Report says that large-scale farmers view increased crop variability caused by the "Freedom to Farm Act" as the leading cause of risk for their businesses.

That's just one of the several articles of interest to people in agriculture that can be found in the free publication.

The quarterly Purdue Agricultural Economics Report offers information designed to help farmers and others involved in agriculture make economic decisions. It is distributed by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and is prepared by the staff of the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue.

The September issue of The Purdue Agricultural Economics Report also offers information on these topics:

• Indiana farmland values decrease for the first time since 1987.

• Farm outlook meetings scheduled for fall 1999.

• Three new faculty join Purdue Department of Agricultural Economics.

The report is available on the Internet as a "portable document folder" or pdf file. It can be downloaded and printed with Adobe Acrobat Reader freeware. The report also is available at the Extension Service office in each county, or by contacting Professor Gerald Harrison, Department of Agricultural Economics, 1145 Krannert Building, Room 630, West Lafayette, IN 47907-1145.
