Purdue to hold ag outlook meetings

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Making the most of both crop prices and government deficiency payments will be the top topic at the annual series of agricultural market outlook meetings offered by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in September and December.

The prospect of another year of record global crop production pushed crop prices to the lowest levels in 25 years this season. Market timing and government support may make the difference for many farms, and specialists from the Purdue Department of Agricultural Economics will discuss price prospects, marketing strategies, and federal farm policy as it may affect Indiana farm income.

Other topics the Purdue agricultural economists will cover are the recovering Asian markets and the outlook for land and input prices. The meetings are free and often include a sponsored meal. For more information, contact the Extension Service office in your county or call (888) EXT-INFO.
