Purdue's Jewish Studies plans open house Sept. 7WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Jewish Studies Program at Purdue University will hold an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, in the Anniversary Drawing Room of the Purdue Memorial Union."The open house is an ideal way for students to meet faculty and staff involved with the Jewish Studies Program at Purdue," said Sandor Goodhart, program director and associate professor of English. "We are also delighted to have with us again this year -- back by popular demand -- members of the Lafayette Klezmorim, who will play some of their, and our, favorites." The Lafayette Klezmorim take their name from the Yiddish word Klezmer, meaning vessel of song. They perform a blend of traditional Jewish musical styles. The band will begin playing at 5 p.m. The public is invited, and free refreshments will be served.
