News conference set for Monday

International students returning to campus

International students attending Purdue's Graduate School will be arriving in the Greater-Lafayette area next week with undergraduate students arriving one week later. Orientation programs are scheduled for Aug. 12 and 13 for graduate students and Aug. 17 and 18 for undergraduates. The programs will help acquaint students with Purdue and the local community. Other activities include programs at the International Center, a trip to Wolf Park on Aug. 19, and a shopping trip to Tippecanoe Mall on Aug. 21. Reception to honor student mural painters

Five students from Jefferson High School in Lafayette have completed a year-long project of painting murals in and around the basement of the Purdue Memorial Union. The students were in a mural painting class at school. The murals depict eight famous alumni; the Boilermaker Special complete with a train car for each Purdue school; a large license plate; and several buildings on campus. The reception will be Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Development Services offices in the basement of the Purdue Memorial Union. Boiler Gold Rush, a new-student orientation program sponsored by the Office of Admissions. Approximately 2,700 first-time Purdue students will move into residence halls early, participate in campus tours and learn about Purdue traditions during the program. Friday, Aug. 20.

Saturday, Aug. 21.
Welcoming parade and President's Gala for new students. Parade starts at 6:10 p.m. at Windsor Residence Hall and concludes at Hovde Hall. President Steven C. Thursday, Aug. 26.

Friday, Aug. 27.
