Human relations sponsoring 3-day diversity workshopForty faculty and staff will spend three days next week learning how to improve the climate for diversity at Purdue. The Office of the Vice President for Human Relations and the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs are sponsoring a workshop Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Stewart Center. The sessions start at 8:30 a.m. each day and run until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and until 1 p.m. Friday. "Our primary goals are to increase overt leadership against discrimination at Purdue and to encourage honest discussions about cultural diversity," said Alysa Rollock, vice president for human relations. Workshop facilitators are from Janice Eddy Inc., a company that has led similar workshops for the Schools of Engineering. CONTACT: Rollock, (765) 494-5830.

Sunday, Aug. 8.Summer commencement for all schools. 2:30 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. About 870 students will be eligible to participate in the 178th commencement ceremony at the West Lafayette campus. Journalists who want to cover the ceremony will need tickets for the event and should reserve space for camera equipment. Sunday-Thursday, Aug. 15-19.Boiler Gold Rush, a new-student orientation program sponsored by the Office of Admissions. Approximately 2,700 first-time Purdue students will move into residence halls early, participate in campus tours and learn about Purdue traditions during the program. Saturday, Aug. 21.Welcoming parade and President's Gala for new students. Parade starts at 6:10 p.m. at Windsor Residence Hall and concludes at Hovde Hall. President Steven C.
