Faculty and staff honors-- Four professors in Purdue's Department of Communication are ranked among the top 100 active researchers in the country in communication studies, according to an article in the research journal Communication Monographs. Brant Burleson is ranked 19th, Glenn Sparks is 59th, George Stevens is 69th, and John Greene is 80th. The rankings were based on the number of times the researchers were cited in communication research journals. Burleson and Greene conduct research in interpersonal communication, while Sparks and Stevens study mass communication. Based solely on the number of faculty listed among the top 100, Purdue's communication department ranked sixth in the country.-- David R. Black, professor of health education, has been elected to fellow status by the American Academy of Health Behavior. Fellow status is the highest honor bestowed by the academy. Black was recognized for significant scholarly contributions to the advancement of knowledge in health education and health promotion.
