Purdue students race across country by land ...Two teams of Purdue students are participating in national cross-country races this week. The Solar Racing Club expected to qualify this weekend for a spot in the 40-car field of SunRayce '99, a collegiate solar car race from Washington, D.C., to Orlando, Fla., June 20-29. Journalists interested in following Purdue's progress in SunRayce '99 can speak to team members daily by cellular telephone. SunRayce officials are providing video uplinks of the competition on June 20, 25 and 29. ... and by airOn June 22, two Purdue student pilots will take off from El Paso, Texas, en route to Willoughby, Ohio, in the three-day Air Race Classic, an annual contest for female pilots. Purdue's Air Race Classic participants are Raegan Frazier from Cape Cod, Mass., and Erin Conner from Carmel, Ind. The only collegiate team in the race, they will provide daily e-mail reports to the University News Service. Through Friday, July 30.The 20th annual Minority Access to Research Careers and Access Internally for Minorities program allows about 40 undergraduate students from Purdue and other institutions to conduct research on the West Lafayette campus for eight weeks. Students work under the supervision of Purdue faculty, make presentations on their research projects, and participate in a Graduate Record Examination workshop.
