This calendar lists selected Purdue events during the next five weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**). All events in this calendar, plus many others, are listed in Purdue's on-line calendar.

  • Wednesday, May 19. 1 p.m. Purdue North Central satellite commencement. Westville Correctional Center.

  • Saturday, May 22. Purdue Employment Expo, "Working to Be Your Employer of Choice." 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. Job-seekers can complete an employment application, take clerical testing, apply for specific jobs and talk to hiring supervisors.

  • Sunday, May 23. 1:30 p.m. Purdue Calumet commencement. North Lawshe Lawn, Hammond.

  • Sunday-Friday, May 23-28. 10th International Soil Conservation Organization Conference: "Sustaining the Global Farm, Local Action for Land Stewardship." Registration is $250.     ** Tuesday-Friday, June 8-11. Home and Family Conference at Stewart Center and Purdue Memorial Union. Sponsored by Purdue Extension's Consumer and Family Sciences program. The keynote address will be delivered Thursday morning by Michelle Passoff, author of "LIGHTEN UP! Free Yourself from Clutter." There also will be seminars on personal finances, child development, gourmet gardening and an introduction to the Internet. The conference is open to the public, and the fee is $35 for the whole conference or $25 per day. Housing is available for those who require it. Early registration is encouraged.
