Police investigating racist fliers

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University police are investigating the posting of a pair of racist fliers in a campus building.

On Monday (4/19), Building Services personnel in Lilly Hall of Life Sciences called police when the two fliers were discovered in a room there. Both fliers contained racial epithets. They apparently were posted sometime over the April 17-18 weekend.

"The posting of such sentiments is abhorrent to the campus community and is expressly prohibited in the antiharassment section of our official regulations," said Ronald J. Fosnaugh, captain of special services.

Persons found in violation of the regulations can face sanctions up to and including employment termination or expulsion from the university.

Fosnaugh said police should always be contacted when racist fliers or graffiti are found. Persons with any information on the Lilly case are asked to call (765) 494-8221.
