Ag Secretary Glickman to visit Purdue April 29

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman will visit Purdue on Thursday, April 29, to meet with ag students, faculty and researchers and to speak to the public about the future of farming. The 7 p.m. speech in Fowler Hall in Stewart Center will touch on the food demands of a growing world population, the role of biotechnology in farming, concerns posed by concentration of agribusinesses, and how these issues will affect independent family farms. Audience members may ask questions following the talk, but journalists should hold their questions until a media availability after the speech, also in Fowler Hall. Earlier in the afternoon, Glickman will tour Purdue's biotechnology facilities, greenhouses and the new Food Science Building. Journalists are invited to take photos or join the tour, which will start at 3:30 p.m. near the greenhouses behind the Horticulture Building.
