JOURNALISTS: Here are story ideas and Purdue events during the next two weeks.

Cousins, former winners compete in 42nd Grand Prix

Two former winners who also are cousins will be among the 33 Purdue students competing in the 42nd annual Purdue Grand Prix on Saturday, April 24. They are last year's winner, Kyle Smith of Frankfort, a senior in the Schools of Engineering, and the 1996 winner, Dustin Smith of Frankfort, a senior in the School of Management. The 50-mile, 160-lap go-kart race is billed as "The Greatest Spectacle in College Racing." The kart track north of Ross-Ade Stadium will open at 10 a.m., and qualification sprints will run at 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. The feature race starts about 2:30 p.m. Journalists can arrange credentials by calling the Purdue Grand Prix Foundation, (765) 494-2708. The Purdue News Service will release unofficial race results within two hours of the race completion, and also will post them to the PurdueNews Web site. Jerome Adams, general manager, Learning and Transformation Services, Shell Oil Co., Houston, talks about "Leveraging Learning as a Vehicle to Manage Change and Improve Business Performance" at the Krannert Executive Forum at 11:30 a.m. in the Krannert Building Auditorium.
