U.S. News ranks Purdue's Krannert among top 20WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management ranked 20th in the country in a U.S. News & World Report survey released today (Friday, 3/19).The list of "America's Best Graduate Schools" appears in the March 22 issue of the magazine, available on newsstands Monday (3/22) and on-line. Krannert moved up four spots to No. 20 in this years' overall rankings, and it moved from fifth to third in the area of production/operations management. Krannert also was ranked 10th in the area of quantitative analysis and 15th for its executive master's program. "We are pleased that U.S. News and World Report has again recognized the Krannert Graduate School of Management as one of the nation's top business schools," said Dennis J. Weidenaar, dean of management. "We are also aware that the rankings only reflect the criteria selected by U.S. News and World Report. But high-quality business schools, such as Krannert, have many attributes that supersede what is captured by these rankings. These include factors such as the schools' culture, its work ethic, its commitment to volunteer programs, and co-curricular activities that expand the global experience of its students." The business school rankings were determined through student selectivity and reputational surveys of business school deans and corporate recruiters. The survey results were combined with statistical data on placement success and graduation rate to produce the rankings. Stanford University again ranked first among graduate business schools, with Harvard, Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania tied for No. 2. Other Big Ten business schools in the top 25 are the University of Michigan, tied with Columbia University for seventh, and Indiana University, tied with Emory University at No. 21. Purdue's School of Management employs 82 faculty members and enrolls 416 graduate students and 1,824 undergraduates. Another 243 people are enrolled in the Krannert executive master's programs. The school offers majors in management, accounting, international management and economics.
