Arts, craft show during Mother's WeekendWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Visitors to Purdue University during SpringFest on April 17 may find treasures during the first Mother's Weekend Arts and Craft Show.The show, sponsored by the Purdue Student Union Board, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that Saturday at the Purdue Memorial Union. Exhibitors will set up in the north and south ballrooms, the main lounge and the Great Hall of the union. More than 60 artisans and crafters have reserved space for their exhibits. The show is being held in place of University Sing, an annual choral competition that had been sponsored by the student union board for almost 70 years. SpringFest weekend, April 17 and 18 this year, offers nearly 100 other free events, activities and demonstrations sponsored by the Schools of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Consumer and Family Sciences, and Science. Events run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Attractions include Bug Bowl, the 86th Annual Horticulture Show, Boiler Barnyard, the Boiler Brick Bowl, a raffle of two children's playhouses that will be built during the weekend, and advice on managing your business and keeping your food safe. Saturday-only events include the 36th Veterinary Medicine Open House and an open house at the Purdue Cancer Center.
