Boilermaker NCAA pride posters available

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A free Purdue men's basketball spirit poster will be available beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday (3/9) to commemorate the Boilermakers' seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament under head coach Gene Keady.

The 11-inch-by-17-inch poster says "Purdue Pride -- Go Boilermakers" and features the Boilermaker Special logo.

"This celebrates the 1998-99 team, which is taking Purdue into the NCAA tourney for the seventh year in a row," said David Brannan, director of Purdue's Office of Publications. His office designed the poster, which is sponsored by the Office of University Relations and the Athletic Public Relations Office.

A limited number of the free posters will be available to fans from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at Mackey Arena; the Visitor and Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave.; the Office of Publications, South Campus Courts-D; and the Alumni Association office, Room 160, Memorial Union.

Brannan said a few spirit posters for the women's team also remain available at those locations. They were produced a week ago and say "Boilers All the Way to San Jose" -- a reference to the site of the finals of the women's tournament.

The men open NCAA play against Texas on Friday in the East Regional at Boston. The women, ranked No. 1 in the nation, will play Oral Roberts at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Mackey Arena in a first-round Midwest Region game.
