Campus activities-- The public is invited to participate in a career fair as part of the 1999 Retail Management Career Conference at Purdue University. The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the South Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union. Representatives from 35 leading retail companies will be available to discuss job opportunities.-- A callout for "Weigh to Go," a seven-week weight control program for students, will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the basement conference room of the Student Health Center. The series focuses on healthy eating and exercise as part of a comprehensive weight-loss plan. Registration is $30. Faculty and staff honors-- Harshvardhan, head of Purdue's Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and professor of atmospheric sciences, has been elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society in recognition of his contributions to the field of atmospheric sciences over a period of years. Harshvardhan joined the Purdue faculty in 1988 after 11 years as a research associate with the Laboratory for Atmospheric Sciences at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. He is internationally recognized as an expert in a broad range of areas, including the effects of aerosols on climate and climate modeling.
