Spring lineup set for Krannert Executive Forum

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Business professionals from corporations across the country will focus on topics ranging from global markets to entrepreneurship as speakers in Purdue University's Krannert Executive Forum this semester.

The forum meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. each Friday in the Krannert Building Auditorium. The lectures, which began in 1973, are part of an undergraduate class, but the forum is open to the public as seating permits.

While on campus, the executives dine with students, meet with faculty of the Krannert Graduate School of Management, and tour teaching and research facilities.

Dates, speakers and topics are:

  • Friday, Jan. 22. John Hatcher, Purdue assistant professor of management. "Annual Reports -- Fact or Fiction."
  • Friday, Jan. 29. Steven A. Albrecht, chief executive officer, World Asset Management, Birmingham, Mich. "Entrepreneur: Valid Concept or Overused Buzzword?"
  • Friday, Feb. 5. Robert J. Warren, vice president and treasurer, Diebold Inc., North Canton, Ohio. "Welcome to the Running Game."
  • Friday, Feb. 12. Walter T. Conway Jr., vice president for emerging markets, Visa USA Inc., San Francisco. "If It Were Easy, Anybody Could Do it -- Marketing Dispatches From the Front Line."
  • Friday, Feb. 19. Steven M. Schmidt, president, A.C. Nielsen-U.S., Schaumburg, Ill. "Financially and Culturally Turning Around and Changing a Corporation."
  • Friday, Feb. 26. John E. Vaughn, president, Global Sales and Services, Tellabs Operations Inc., Lisle, Ill. "Going Global a Competitive Imperative."
  • Friday, March 5. Mark Shunk, president and chief executive officer, Cadence Network LLC, Cincinnati. "Building Your Competency Capital."
  • Friday, March 12. Alysa Rollock, Purdue interim vice president for human relations. "Expect the Unexpected."
  • Friday, March 26. Roger C. Stewart, vice president, Global Treasury, Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati. "Global Treasury -- Managing Risk in a Volatile Environment."
  • Friday, April 2. John E. Barnes, chairman and chief executive officer, Materials Processing, Inc., Logansport, Ind. "Entrepreneurism, a Way of Life."
  • Friday, April 9. Rear Adm. David S. Belz, U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters (G-SEA), Washington, D.C. "Drug Trafficking: A Transnational Threat for the New Millennium."
  • Friday, April 16. Joseph E. Turk, executive vice president, Inland Container Corp., Indianapolis. "Credentials to Action -- Making the Shift."
  • Friday, April 23. Jerome Adams, general manager, Learning and Transformation Services, Shell Oil Co., Houston. "Leveraging Learning as a Vehicle to Manage Change and Improve Business Performance."
