Snow crunch eases; parking shuttle to cease

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The temporary shuttle-bus service for users of parking lots at the north end of the Purdue University campus -- set up last week to cope with the effects of heavy snow and the return of students for the spring semester -- will operate until 5:30 p.m. Friday (1/15).

This week, the bus has picked up students and staff who have parked in the north end of the Ross-Ade Stadium north lot, the Grand Prix track lot and the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex lot, and dropped them off at central campus locations.

"We appreciate those who have used the lots, which freed up other campus parking areas that our crews were able to work on further to get them back to normal after the recent snowstorm," said Bill Coghill, director of safety and security and chief of police. "We will continue to operate the shuttle bus as a courtesy through late Friday afternoon. Our thanks to everyone in the Purdue community for their patience and flexibility during our recent snow emergency."

For the time being, Coghill said, A, B and C parking-permit holders may continue to park in the north third of the stadium lot or the gravel lot north of the football practice field, but vehicles must be removed by 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends. Those without permits may continue to use the Grand Prix track and golf course lot 24 hours a day.
