Appointments and promotions-- Ann Hunt, associate professor of nursing, has been appointed by Gov. Frank O'Bannon to the Indiana State Board of Nursing. Hunt will complete the term for another registered nurse appointee whose term expires July 2000. The eight-member board prescribes, approves and evaluates nursing education programs.
Faculty and staff honors-- John Starkey, associate professor of mechanical engineering, received a Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Faculty Advisor Award for his service as a faculty adviser to the SAE Collegiate Chapter, and for his help promoting student activities. Starkey will be honored in March at the 1999 SAE International Congress and Exposition in Detroit.-- Karthik Ramani, associate professor of mechanical engineering, is one of 11 recipients internationally to receive the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) 1999 Milton C. Shaw Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award. Ramani will receive the award at either the NAMRC conference in May or the Computer Technology Solutions conference in September.
