Free spirit posters available for Boiler football fans

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A free Purdue football spirit poster will be available starting at noon Friday (12/11) at four campus locations.

The 11-inch-by-17-inch black and gold poster reads "Purdue Remembers the Alamo Bowl." It commemorates the team's second season under head coach Joe Tiller and supports the team as it prepares for its second consecutive appearance in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

The posters will be available weekdays at Room 60 of Mackey Arena; the Visitor Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave.; the Office of Publications, South Campus Courts-D; and the Alumni Association office, Room 160, Memorial Union. The posters also will be available at the gates in Mackey Arena after the men's basketball games Friday and Saturday at the Boilermaker Invitational.

"With the growing success of the Purdue football and basketball programs, pride posters have become a tradition with the fans," said David Brannan, director of Purdue's Office of Publications. "This season's poster plays on the convincing victory and the fun-filled memories of the Boilermakers' 1997 trip to the Alamo Bowl." Brannan's office designed the poster, which is sponsored by the Office of University Relations and the Athletic Public Relations Office.

The Boilers will play Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29. The game will be televised on ESPN. Last year, Purdue recorded a 33-20 victory over Oklahoma State.

Travel packages for this year's game, including tickets, are available from the Purdue Alumni Association, and game tickets are available at the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office. Tours and tickets may be ordered via the Boilermaker Football Bowl Hotline, 1-800-927-4177; in Greater Lafayette, call 496-6300. A World Wide Web page contains the latest bowl and ticket information.

Prices for game tickets range from $40.50 to $65.50. Tour prices range from $399 for a one-day trip to San Antonio to $1,895 for a five-day package.
