Dec. 7, 1998 Purdue's Beering denies campus merger talk WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University President Steven C. Beering issued the following statement Monday ,(12/7), in response to the article, "PUC, IUN discuss merger," which appeared in The Times Sunday: "The article in The Times was unfortunate and inaccurate. Officials of Purdue and Indiana university have had no discussions of a merger of the Lake County campuses. Our institutions have a long history of service to the community, both separately and cooperatively, and we look forward to continuing that tradition." Source: President Steven C.
