Professional development courses offered at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University's Office of Continuing Engineering Education is offering 25 noncredit, professional development courses beginning Jan. 11.The videotape classes available are: Accelerated Reliability & Life Testing Concepts; Basics of Life Cycle Costing; The Challenge of Project Management; Composites I: The Basics; Creativity Tools & Techniques for Success; Decision Analysis Mechanics; Digital Signal Processing: Module 1; Effective Writing for Technical Professionals; Engineering Fundamentals: FE Review; Failure Modes & Effects Analysis; The 5-Hour MBA; Hardware Description Languages VHDL & Verilog; High Involvement/High Commitment Teamwork; Introduction to C & C++ Programming; Introduction to Java; Mathematica for Engineers; Object-Oriented Programming in C++ for C and C++ Programmers; PowerPoint for Windows; A Practical Guide to Engineering Fundamentals; Reliability & Maintainability Engineering in Action; Team & Communication Skills for Engineers; Ten Commandments of Successful Presentations; UNIX: System Administration; Using the Internet & WWW for a Competitive Edge; and Windows '95. The videotape programs, which will be shown on the Purdue campus in Room 268 of the Potter Engineering Center, vary in length and cost. They also will be shown at sites around the state via the IHETS network. Participants can register through Jan. 11.
