School of Health Sciences names 11 freshman scholarsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue University School of Health Sciences has named 11 students from Indiana as Freshmen Scholars for the 1998-99 academic year.The program honors and encourages academic achievement among first-year students, who are chosen on the basis of high-school academic performance, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from teachers and counselors. They each receive a $1,000 scholarship and the opportunity to work in research-related projects with a faculty member or health professional. The recipients from Indiana are Sarah Dunn, Angola; Christopher Cunningham, Farmland; Amanda Ward, Francesville; Carrie Monro, Goshen; Jill Butler and Matthew Moebs, both of Indianapolis; HeeSoo Shin, Lafayette; Meghan Miller, Richmond; Colette Bland, St. John; Amanda Hummel, Walkerton; and John Badylak, West Lafayette.
