Purdue students recognized for honors, achievementsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Ten Purdue University students recently were recognized for their achievements.-- Six sophomores in the School of Technology have won George W. McNelly Scholarships for the 1998-1999 school year. The recipients of the $1,000 one-time awards are computer science majors William D. Floyd of Rushville and Ryan M. McDaniel of Shelbyville; electrical engineering technology majors Brandon C. Morgan of Floyds Knobs, Frederick D. Muehlhausen of Lafayette, and Nicole A. Taylor of Tipton; and technical graphics major Rachel E. Van Winkle of Centerville. The award, named for former dean George W. McNelly, is given for outstanding scholastic achievement after completion of one year of study in the School of Technology. -- Four upperclassmen in the School of Technology have been named Maurice G. Knoy Scholars for 1998-1999. Each has been awarded $750 toward tuition and fees for the current semester and will be eligible for an additional $750 award per semester provided they maintain their current academic status. The scholarship winners include junior computer technology major Andrew G. Hayes of Waldron and senior mechanical engineering technology major Chad D. Kerkhof of Greenfield. Korrie L. Keeton of South Bend and Adam Gretencord of Earl Park, both seniors majoring in technical graphics, also received the award, which was established in honor of Maurice G. Knoy, president of Purdue's Board of Trustees from 1968 to 1980.
