Seminar will help people rehabilitate historic barnsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Owners of historic rural property will have the opportunity to learn about rehabilitating old barns at a daylong Barn Again! workshop Nov. 21 in Columbus, Ind.Many historic Indiana barns are empty or falling down. Most were built for specific purposes that no longer exist. This program shows how to make such barns useful in today's world. Experienced barn renovators will give information about incentives for restoration and will provide examples of the labor and materials necessary for rehabilitation. The workshop also will provide information about the history and structural technology of barns. The Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and the Historical Landmarks Foundation are teaming up to bring the Barn Again! workshop to Indiana. The workshop will be at the Bartholomew County Extension Building in Columbus. The cost is $20 per person for members of the Historical Landmarks Foundation and $30 for nonmembers. Registration forms can be obtained from the Historical Landmarks Foundation at (800) 450-4534. Deadline for registration is Nov. 16.
