PMO calling all students for '98 Christmas Show

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue Musical Organizations will bring a touch of the holidays to the university's Memorial Mall on Wednesday (10/21) with a student ticket callout for the 65th Anniversary Christmas Show.

Tickets for all six shows will be on sale for $10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Christmas Show will be presented at 8 p.m. Dec. 11; noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 12; and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 13.

"We wanted to provide an additional opportunity for students, especially first-year students, to buy tickets and experience the tradition and spirit of the PMO Christmas Show," said Amy Page Christiansen, PMO Club director.

Student performers in the PMO groups will be at the callout on the Memorial Mall. Refreshments also will be available. "I can't think of a better study break before finals week than coming to the Christmas Show," said Jake McDuffee, a senior from San Antonio who is in the Varsity Glee Club and is majoring in elementary education. "It's exciting for us to have the support of our fellow Purdue students in the audience."

The American Bus Association named the Christmas Show one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 1998. Thousands of people from throughout the Midwest visit campus annually for the show. In addition to the regional audience of 36,000 people who see the show live, millions of people see it on public television stations from coast to coast. More than one million people have attended the PMO Christmas Show live since its debut in 1933.

This year PMO will celebrate the show's 65th anniversary with a holiday homecoming featuring the PMO stars of the past and more than 270 Purdue student performers. The Purdue Varsity Glee Club, Purduettes, University Choir, PMO Express, the Purdue Bell Choir and PMO Kids Choir will offer a variety of seasonal favorites to ring in the holiday season.

The public can purchase Christmas Show tickets at Purdue box offices, (765) 494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW, or from Purdue Musical Organizations at (765) 494-3941 or 1-800-893-3041. Prices are $21, $16 and $10, depending on the location in the hall.
