Greek leaders to meet at Purdue conference

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Greek student leaders from throughout the Midwest will converge at Purdue University on Nov. 1 for the 14th annual Indiana Greek Leadership Conference.

The conference theme is "Striving Beyond Expectations," said Erin Clem, director of inter-Greek activities for the Purdue Panhellenic Association. The meeting is expected to draw students from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Drury Bagwell, assistant vice president of student life at the University of Maryland, will give the keynote address at 9 a.m. Nov. 1 in the North Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union.

The workshop sessions scheduled throughout the day in Stewart Center are designed to help student fraternity and sorority leaders develop skills and gain new ideas for their chapter houses. Topics will include member recruitment, hazing, risk management, alcohol-free housing, sexism, meeting management, and member motivation.

The conference also will feature a case study competition where groups of two students will work with other groups to develop solutions to a Greek life scenario. Judges will award prizes to the top three solutions.
