Police investigating indecent exposure, attempted theftWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University police are investigating two unrelated cases that occurred Wednesday (10/14) -- a report of indecent exposure and an attempted purse theft.A female student told police that as she was jogging near Tarkington Hall about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, a slow-moving vehicle pulled up behind her. The driver exposed himself, looked at the woman and drove off. She described him as a white college-age male with blondish-brown hair. Police are pursuing leads on the basis of the car's license plate number, which the victim was able to provide. About 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to Knoy Hall of Technology after a staff member reported that she discovered a man in her office attempting to take her purse. The woman attempted to detain the suspect, and screamed for assistance. The suspect broke free. He was chased by three laboratory assistants, but outran them. The woman said she has seen the suspect on the north side of Knoy Hall on a few previous occasions. The suspect is a slender white male in his mid-20s, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, with blond shoulder-length hair. He was wearing a black leather hat, black leather jacket and blue jeans. Persons with information on either case should contact the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221.
