Early United Way responders get chance at clean carsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Vice presidents and deans at Purdue University will scrub bumpers and polish paint jobs Wednesday, Oct. 14, as an incentive for staff members to give early to the United Way of Greater Lafayette.Those staff members who return their pledge forms within the first 10 days of the Purdue United Way Campaign will be eligible to enter a drawing for a free car wash -- each vehicle foamed, rubbed, scrubbed and shined by the top brass themselves. Friday, Oct. 9, in front of Hovde Hall, campaign co-chairs Morgan Burke and Joni Comstock, and vice chair Dennis Savaiano, will draw 50 winners. Those staff members will be notified by phone and scheduled to receive their car washes between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Transportation Maintenance Building on Harrison Street. Pledge forms delivered by team captains to the bursar's office before 5 p.m. Oct. 7 will be eligible for the drawing.
