Food seminar brings in 86 international journalistsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Eighty-six agricultural and financial journalists from North and South America, Europe and Australia will attend a seminar at Purdue University on Monday, Sept. 28.The press briefing is sponsored by global farm equipment manufacturer New Holland; the host is the Center for Agricultural Business at Purdue. The seminar is based on the research report, "Food Systems 21: Gearing up for the New Millennium," developed by more than 50 Purdue faculty members over the past year and a half. "We are excited about discussing our findings with journalists," said Dave Downey, director of the Center for Agricultural Business and professor of agricultural marketing. "They provide what is perhaps the most necessary of all farm inputs: information." New Holland chief executive officer Umberto Quadrino, a presenter at the seminar, is excited by the opportunity to come to Purdue. "We are particularly pleased to bring our annual worldwide agricultural trade press meeting to the Purdue campus this year," Quadrino said. "The combination of a world-leading university in agricultural economics and the top journalists in the field creates an extraordinary opportunity for an important and far-reaching dialogue." The Center for Agricultural Business at Purdue has become the leading center for agribusiness professional development programs in the United States, serving as a liaison between agribusiness and the faculty, facilities and research capabilities of Purdue.
