This Labor Day, unions making on-line connections

The Internet is ushering in a new era for labor unions, says Purdue labor expert James B. Dworkin, associate dean of the Krannert School of Management. He says unions are tapping into the Internet by using Web sites, interactive links and e-mail to broaden their reach. "Unions are searching for new ways to attract new members, including using electronic authorization cards via the Internet," he says. Dworkin, an expert on labor-management relations, has published numerous books and articles on collective bargaining and labor relations in professional athletics and in industry.
