New indecent exposure report filedWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University police are investigating the third report of indecent exposure on or near campus since Sunday (7/19).The latest incident occurred about 11 a.m. Tuesday (7/21), but was not reported to police until late afternoon. Detective Capt. Steven R. Dietrich said the report appears related to a case West Lafayette police were investigating, which occurred at First and Russell streets at about the same time. In the on-campus incident, a female Purdue student said she was stopped by a white college-age man on foot while walking near the northwest corner of the Agricultural Administration Building. He asked for directions to "the science building." She said he appeared confused and started to wave his hands in the air. When she noticed that he had exposed himself, she left the area and was not able to advise in which direction he headed. The woman described the offender as 6 feet tall with short brown straight hair and a well-tanned complexion, wearing a white Tommy Hilfiger T-shirt and red boxer-type shorts. The description is similar to the West Lafayette case, Dietrich noted. He said public indecency is a class A misdemeanor in Indiana, which carries up to a one-year jail term and/or up to a $5,000 fine. Persons with any information on this case are asked to contact the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221.
