School of Education presents 8 scholarships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Eight Purdue University students recently earned School of Education scholarships.

-- Five elementary education majors have been named School of Education Scholars for the 1998-99 academic year. Seniors Stephanie J. Bess of Milford, Ind., Theresa J. Bickham of Portage, Ind., Aimee R. Harrison, of St. Bernhard, Ohio, and Ashley E. Malin of Granger, Ind., and freshman Ashley M. Young of West Lafayette have been awarded $750 scholarships.

-- Terese Shorter, a senior from Rockville, Ind., has been awarded the $500 Mary Ann Jenkins Scholarship for the 1998-99 academic year. She's majoring in special education.

-- Elizabeth Harvey of Hammond, Ind. has won the $500 Bonnie Roper-Mohlke Scholarship for the 1998-99 academic year. The award is presented annually to a special education major entering the junior year of study.

-- Cynthia N. Corona, a freshman elementary education major from Whittier, Calif., has won the $500 Barbara I. Cook Scholarship for the 1998-99 academic year.
