EVENTS

  • Friday, June 12. Purdue Legends Golf Outing. 11 a.m. Elks Lodge outside West Lafayette. Basketball coach Gene Keady, former Purdue players and basketball personalities join the public for 18 holes of golf. Cost is $150. CONTACT: John Purdue Club, (765) 494-3248; fax, (765) 496-1842. Part of the Legends Weekend to honor Keady, Purdue's winningest basketball coach.

  • Friday, June 12. Dinner and roast of Purdue basketball coach Gene Keady. 6:30 p.m. Ballrooms, Purdue Memorial Union. Cost is $60, and seating is limited. Part of the Legends Weekend to honor Keady, who became Purdue's winningest basketball coach with his 372nd win in December.

  • Saturday, June 13. Purdue Legends Basketball Game. 1:30 p.m. Mackey Arena. More than 300 former Purdue players have been invited to play.   • Thursday, May 28. Midwestern Work-Family Association Annual Conference: "Work-Family Challenges for the New Millennium." 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Radisson Hotel, 8787 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis. This conference is especially targeted toward CEOs and professionals in the human resources or work/life areas. Non-members are welcome to attend. Sponsored by Eli Lilly and Co.   • Wednesday-Friday, June 10-12. 85th Home and Family Conference. Featured speakers are Naomi Griffith, a child welfare expert, and Betty Sinnock, founder and senior partner of the Beardstown Ladies Investment Club. Other session topics include food safety, family issues and money matters. Registration is $33 for the whole conference or $23 for a single day.   • ** Friday-Saturday, June 19-20. Great Lakes Region Aviation and Space Education Conference: "Yearning and Learning to Touch the Sky." Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. This conference is for K-12 educators, professors, administrators, youth group leaders and others interested in using aviation and space education as a motivational tool. Highlights will include hands-on sessions with classroom materials; speakers from Purdue, the United States Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol and NASA, including astronauts Mark Brown and Janice Voss; presentations on aerospace activities for the classroom; and tours of Purdue aerospace research facilities and the Indianapolis International Airport's weather station. Registration before May 31 is $70; after that it's $90. Sponsored by the Indiana Space Grant Consortium and Great Lakes Region Civil Air Patrol.
