Purdue Dance Division presents
'Spring Dance Collection'
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue University Repertory Dance Company presents its
Spring Dance Collection, nine works created by Purdue faculty and students, at 8
p.m. May 1 and 2 in Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center.
The show will include a dance created by a Purdue professor that adjudicators at the
Great Lakes Regional American Dance chose to represent the Great Lakes area at the
National American College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.,
in May. The work, "Tides and Solitudes," was choreographed by Sally Wallace, assistant
professor in the Dance Division in Purdue's Department of Visual and Performing Arts.
In addition to the five works created by Purdue faculty and the four created by students,
the concert will showcase two guest artists.
- Jahari Dance Troupe, the resident dance company of the Purdue Black Cultural Center,
has been invited to present a work in the concert.
- Dancers from the YARD (Youth at Risk Dancing) and Urban Dance Collective will perform
a new work. These two companies are from the Cleveland School of the Arts, a magnet
school within the Cleveland Public Schools that emphasizes the creative and performing arts.
Tickets are available at the Loeb box office in Stewart Center or by phone at (765)
494-3993. The prices are $3 for children 12 and under, $6 for students and senior
citizens, and $8 for the public.
