Cirque Eloize brings the Big Top to Purdue's stage

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Canadian circus troupe Cirque Eloize presents a program entitled Excentricus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Loeb Playhouse in Purdue University's Stewart Center. The program is presented by Purdue Convocations with support from Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. and Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union.

Founded in 1993 by seven performers who were former members of Cirque du Soleil or graduates of Ecole Nationale de Cirque, Cirque Eloize draws its name from a provincial expression for heat lightning. Cirque Eloize now includes 12 artists and four musicians in a European, or "animal-free," style of circus. The company's new show Excentricus features acrobats, aerial artists, jugglers, clowns and musicians. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin recently raved, "Excentricus is fast, clean, spectacular and dramatically different."

Tickets are $18 for the public and $14 for students at campus box offices. Charge by phone at (765) 494-3933 or 1-800-914-SHOW.
