To be held March 11-12 at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, the school will include sessions with an emphasis on marketing, said Rick Foster, organizer and associate professor of entomology at Purdue.
"Many growers are really good at raising vegetables, but need help with marketing," he said.
Industry representatives and growers, such as pumpkin farmer Joe Huber Jr. of Starlight, Ind., will speak at the sessions on marketing skills.
"Huber will share how he markets all kinds of vegetables in October. That's the most important time of the year, when sales are the highest for the Halloween market and Thanksgiving," Foster said.
Other sessions will provide tips on choosing crop varieties, insect and disease management, and irrigation.
"This school will teach growers all that they need to know about how to grow these crops, whether they're just starting out or have a lot of experience," Foster said.
Registration is $40 for the March 11 melon growers sessions, $20 for the March 12 half-day pumpkin growers sessions, and $20 for the March 12 half-day pepper growers sessions. A $10 late fee will be added to the registration fee after Feb. 27. Lunch is not included in the registration fees.
