Trips are offered through the university's continuing education department and various academic programs. Each tour is planned and led by Purdue faculty, and will provide hands-on encounters with another culture, its people and environment.
A trip to London is planned for March 7-14, during Purdue's spring break. Guided tours will explore British art, architecture and theater, along with an offered side trip to Stratford-upon-Avon. The program costs $1,595, which includes air and land travel, some meals, accommodations, entrance and tour fees.
A grand tour of Europe is offered to adults May 14-27 and to students May 18-31. This trip will focus on sights in Holland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France and England. The program costs $2,650, which includes air and land travel, accommodations in three-star hotels, most meals, tour and entrance fees.
A trip to Peru is June 8-17. This tour will explore the art and architecture of the Inca civilization and the Spanish colonization of Peru. Among the stops will be Lima, the Pisac market fair and Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. The trip costs $2,690, which includes air and land transportation, four- and five-star accommodations and most meals.
A tour of the gardens of Britain is July 6-17. This trip features tours of the living museum of Wisley Gardens, the 300-acre Kew Gardens and the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the world's largest annual gardening event held on Henry VIII's palace grounds. The cost is $2,995, which includes air and land travel, accommodations, many meals, tour fees and gratuities.
A trip to Ireland, Scotland and England is July 9-23. The tour features Ireland's Kilarney and the Blarney Castle, the castles and culture of Scotland, England's Lake District and London. The cost is $2,995, which includes air and ground transportation, accommodations in three-star hotels and bed and breakfasts, most meals and entry fees.
Three tours will be offered for three university credits. Participants who do not which to receive the credit can audit the program but will still have to pay in-state tuition, which is included in the program cost.
A three-week trip to Kenya is May 26-June 7. Participants will study Kenya's wildlife reserves, natural resources, tribal cultures and history. The cost is $3,995, which includes air and ground transportation, accommodations, all meals while on safari, private minibus for wildlife viewing, seminars before and during travel, professional wildlife escort and game park entry fees.
A two-week tour of Rome to study architecture, art and landscape architecture is July 11-24. Activities include visits to the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica and Ostia Antica. The cost is $2,545, which includes transportation, most meals, accommodations, entrance fees and travel health insurance.
A three-week program is planned for Greece and Turkey May 26-June 16. Sites in Greece to be visited are Athens, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Corinth, Delphi, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini. In Turkey, visits will be made to Istanbul, Gallipoli, Troy, Pergamum, Sardis, Ephesus and Bodrum. The cost is $3,495, which includes air and ground transportation, accommodations, all breakfasts and dinners, flights between countries, local guides, all boat transportation in Greece, all sight-seeing and entrance fees, and travel health insurance.
