Vocal group features religious songs from Renaissance

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Vocal group Chicago a cappella will present a program entitled "Christians and Jews in the Renaissance" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at First Baptist Church, 411 N. 7th St., Lafayette.

The concert, part of the Discovery Artists series, is presented by Purdue University Convocations with support from Friends of Convocations.

Chicago a cappella is a nine-member ensemble founded and directed by Jonathan Miller. The program will feature Gregorian and synagogue chant, Sephardic melodies and music by composers such as Salamone Rossi and Orazio Vecchi.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago a cappella is "exquisitely pure, beautifully balanced and nuanced choral singing."
