The 11-inch-by-17-inch black and gold poster reads "Boilermakers Storm the Alamo." It commemorates the team's inaugural season under head coach Joe Tiller and supports the team as it prepares for the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Dec. 30.
"It's our way of keeping the momentum of our football dream season rolling," said David Brannan, director of Purdue's Office of Publications. "This is the first opportunity we've had to create a pride poster for the football team, and we hope it becomes a long-standing tradition." His office designed the poster, which is sponsored by the Boiler Backers.
A limited number of the free posters will be available to fans from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week at these campus locations: Mackey Arena; the Visitor Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave.; the Office of Publications, South Campus Courts-D; and the Alumni Association office, Room 160, Memorial Union.
The Boilers will play Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30. The game will be televised on ESPN. This is the team's first bowl appearance since 1984. Travel packages, including tickets, are available from the Purdue Alumni Association, (800) 414-1541 or (765) 494-5175. Tickets are available from the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office, (800) 49-SPORT or (765) 494-3194.
