Campus Compact seeking grant applicants

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Indiana Campus Compact is accepting grant applications from Purdue University student organizations and faculty members for community service learning projects.

Purdue is one of 14 members of Indiana Campus Compact, part of a national effort to promote community service among college students. The national organization has more than 500 member groups in 16 states.

Two types of grants are available: community service grants for student organizations and scholarship grants for faculty. Applications for both types of grants are available in Room 334, Student Health Center.

The community service grants are to encourage student organizations to become involved in community service projects. Applications are due Oct. 15. The grants range from $100 to $1,000, and can be used for supplies and materials for the projects. Each application will be evaluated by a statewide selection committee on community needs, orientation and training of volunteers, and project impact.

Stipends up to $2,000 are available to faculty members who develop courses, research projects or professional service activities that emphasize community service. The deadline for submitting proposals to the Division of Sponsored Programs is Oct. 31.
