Purdue skiers to be host of, compete in national tourney
The Purdue Water Ski Club will be host of the 1997 National Collegiate Waterski Association
Championships, Thursday-Saturday (Oct. 9-11), at Waters Edge Estates, Wilmington,
Ill. The event will feature about 200 skiers from 12 teams, including Purdue, who
earned spots in the nationals from six regional competitions, says Chad Kodiak, nationals
chairman. Purdue was named 1997 host during last year's nationals. "The selection
committee was really impressed with our proposal. The competition will be at a new
facility about an hour south of Chicago, and this will be the first time the nationals
will be conducted in the Midwest since 1979," he says. Video of Purdue team members
practicing for the nationals and an interview with Kodiak are available from Grady
