Post specializes in quick character changes, even developing different roles for different body parts. He portrays a ballet dancer, substituting his arms for her legs; an aerial stunt pilot acting out Post's own fear of flying; and an eccentric street person who makes invisible omelets while dishing out political humor. He even portrays the entire cast of a murder mystery.
Post's sense of humor is his trademark. The New York Times said, "It's a wonder that Robert Post has not been snapped up by late night television given his bizarre sense of humor." Post uses elements of physical comedy, absurdist theater, dialects, mime, and a spontaneous dialogue with the audience to present a form of entertainment he calls "illegitimate theater." Post has performed in thirty-four states, Canada, Mexico and Japan, has won numerous awards and has been featured on his own national PBS television special: Robert Post - In Performance.
