people or programs off campus during the next five weeks. Events are free and open
to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or
updated listings have two asterisks (**).

EVENTS
- Monday, Aug. 25. "Total Rec Day." 2-6 p.m. An open house at the Recreational Gym
to show students the variety of activities available at the facility.
- Thursday, Aug. 28. Black Cultural Center Boilerfest. 4 p.m. Black Cultural Center,
315 University St.
- Friday, Aug. 29. Main Event and Activities Carnival sponsored by the Purdue Student
Union Board, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center. More than
90 student organizations will have displays and information booths at the outdoor
activities carnival during the day, and a variety of entertainment will be presented.
- Saturday, Aug. 30. Juggling Festival. 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Purdue Armory. Sponsored by the

- Saturday, Aug. 30. Global Fest Celebration. 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Morton Center.

- Monday, Sept. 1. Volleyball team autograph session. 2-4 p.m. Tippecanoe Mall.
- Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 2-3. Sailing Club Boat Display. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Memorial Mall.
** Wednesday, Sept. 3. Tony Hawkins, interim vice president for student services,
will announce fall enrollment figures at 3 p.m. Room 112, Schleman Hall.
** Friday, Sept. 5. Boilermaker Tractor Pull display. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Memorial Mall.
Tractors and trucks pulling at the Sept. 6 tractor pull will be on display.
** Friday, Sept. 5. Leslie Day '97. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Memorial Mall. Voter registration
and a GOP information booth sponsored by College Republicans. The Leslie Day dinner
with local Republicans will be 6-9 p.m. in the East Faculty Lounge, Purdue Memorial

- Saturday, Sept. 6. Boilermaker Tractor Pull. 6-11 p.m. Tractor Pull Track. Sponsored
by the Boilermaker Tractor Pull Foundation.
** Sunday, Sept. 7. Black Cultural Center open house, 315 University St. 2-4:30
p.m. Black-and-white photos and text from the Million Man March from BCC assistant
director and multidisciplinary artist Frank X. Walker will be on display. The community
is invited.
- Friday, Sept. 12. Purdue Musical Organizations' Sing 'n Swing Golf Outing. 10 a.m.
registration. Ackerman Golf Course (formerly Purdue South). Tournament starts at
11 a.m. with a shotgun start and scramble format. Box lunches, a reception, dinner
and entertainment all are included. Reservations for golf, lunch and dinner are $50 per person

** Saturday, Sept. 20. Parents' Day Boilermaker Boardwalk. 7-10:30 p.m. Purdue Memorial
Union Ballrooms. Experience the thrill of horse racing, casinos, and game shows all
rolled into something special. There will be live entertainment, a raffle for prizes, refreshments, and dancing to tunes from the '50s to the '90s.

** Saturday, Sept. 20. Pregame (Ball State) concert with the "All-American" Marching
Band. Slayter Center. Purdue's "All-American" Marching Band performs its traditional
tailgate concert, 1-1/2 hours before the football game. Today's "Band Day" celebration during halftime at Ross-Ade Stadium will feature more than 20 visiting high school
marching bands.
** Saturday, Sept. 20. Tony Bennett concert. 8:30 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. Presented
by Purdue Convocations. Tickets go on sale Aug. 28 at campus box offices. They are
