EVENTS

** Friday, Aug. 22. The Purdue "All-American" Marching Band will crown this year's featured twirlers -- the Golden Girl, Girl in Black and Silver Twins. Auditions begin at 4 p.m. at the band practice field on Third Street across from the residence halls. Announcement of the judges' selections will be made between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Room 15, Elliott Hall of Music.

** Saturday, Aug. 30. Juggling Festival. 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Purdue Armory. Sponsored by the Juggling Club.

** Friday, Sept. 12. Purdue Musical Organizations' Sing 'n Swing Golf Outing. 10 a.m. registration. Ackerman Golf Course (formerly Purdue South). Tournament starts at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start and scramble format. Box lunches, a reception, dinner and entertainment all are included. ** Friday, Aug. 29. Varsity Glee Club First-Nighter. 7:30 p.m. Memorial Union Ballrooms. Glee Club's annual free performance to welcome everyone back to campus and showcase new talent.

Monday, Sept. 8. Women Don't Have to Be Footnotes: A New Look at Jewish History. Speaker: Emily Taitz, medieval historian and adjunct professor at Adelphi University. 8 p.m. Krannert Auditorium. Co-sponsored by the Purdue Jewish Studies and Women's Studies programs.

** Wednesday, Sept. 10. Egypt and Israel: A Conversation With Egyptian Ambassador Mohammed Bassiouny. Speaker: Miriam Joyce, associate professor of history and political science, Purdue Calumet. 12:30 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 209. Jewish Studies Discussion Series.
