** Saturday, Aug. 23. Welcoming parade from the Windsor Residence Halls to Elliott Hall of Music. 6:15 p.m. First-year students will join Purdue's "All-American" Marching Band, the Boilermaker Special, Purdue Pete and Purdue President Steven C. Beering in the parade. Then, students and their parents will attend the President's Gala to Welcome New Students at 7 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music.
** Monday, Aug. 25. "Total Rec Day." 2-6 p.m. An open house at the Recreational Gym to show students the variety of activities available at the facility.
** Thursday, Aug. 28. Black Cultural Center Boilerfest. 4 p.m. Black Cultural Center, 315 University St.
** Friday, Aug. 29. Main Event and Activities Carnival sponsored by the Purdue Student Union Board, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center. More than 90 student organizations will have displays and information booths at the outdoor activities carnival during the day, and a variety of entertainment will be presented.
** Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 2-3. Sailing Club Boat Display. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Memorial Mall.
** Saturday, Sept. 6. Boilermaker Tractor Pull. 6-11 p.m. Tractor Pull Track. Sponsored by the Boilermaker Tractor Pull Foundation.
** Monday, Sept. 8. Women Don't Have to Be Footnotes: A New Look at Jewish History. Speaker: Emily Taitz, medieval historian and adjunct professor at Adelphi University. 8 p.m. Krannert Auditorium. Co-sponsored by the Purdue Jewish Studies and Women's Studies programs.
