EDITORS: This Purdue calendar will be produced every other week during the summer, unless events warrant otherwise. This calendar lists events on Purdue's West Lafayette campus or involving people or programs off campus during the next five weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**).

EVENTS
** Thursday-Saturday, July 31-Aug. 2. Indiana Land Care Exposition. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Jeff and Trisha Stevens farm near Shelbyville. A free event about taking care of and protecting the land and about solving problems for landowners. Displays by the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, the Land Improvement Contractors Association, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Indiana Ground Water Association. The Stevens farm is southeast of Shelbyville along Interstate 74 near Exit 123. For more information, contact a Purdue Cooperative Extension Service county office or call 1-888-398-4636.
** Wednesday, Aug. 6-Sunday, Aug. 17. Indiana State Fair. Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis. In addition to the 4-H exhibits, Purdue Agriculture will return to the Pioneer Our Land Pavilion with displays and interactive exhibits centered around how we feed the world. Special events include concerts by country stars, midway rides, daily parades, free exhibits, food and home improvement demonstrations, Black Expo Day, Clown Day, petting zoos and more. Advance tickets are $4 at Marsh Supermarkets, Revco Drugs, Indiana Farm Bureau, Signature Inn and the Indiana State Fair Box Office. Tickets at the door are $5. ** Through Aug. 3. "Caring for Collections," 19 paintings from the Permanent Collection that are in need of repair. The exhibit is designed to acquaint the public with some of the complexities of conserving works of art. Summer gallery hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 7-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Stewart Center Gallery, West Lobby, Stewart Center.
