and Research Building. The Council on the Status of Women is presenting the awards
to Purdue's Health Promotion Programs; Patricia A. Carlisle, director of student
support services at Purdue North Central; and Joan L. Marshall, associate dean of the School
of Liberal Arts, for promoting women's issues and programs. The reception is free
and open to the public.

- Tuesday, April 29. Professor Marianne Boruch, Department of English, reads from her

Center. Purdue Repertory Dance Company presents new dance works by Purdue dance faculty

LECTURES
- ** Monday, April 28. Public lecture on the history, construction and architectural
and engineering aspects of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the seat of China's
Congress. 7-9 p.m., Fowler Hall. Featured speaker is Wu De Sheng, president of the
Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and Research. Sponsored by Purdue's student
chapter of Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society.
- Wednesday, April 30. The Jewish Studies Program at Purdue in Retrospect: Where Are

Young, associate professor of history and interim co-director of the Jewish Studies
Program. Jewish Discussion Lecture Series.
CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS
- Monday-Friday, May 5-9. 12th Annual Engineering/Management Program. An intensive
week-long conference for experienced engineers, scientists, technical specialists
and engineering managers who have a desire to update or enhance their technical and
managerial skills. The cost of the conference is $2,095 ($1,995 without lodging). For registration

** Thursday, May 8. Organizations, Employees & Families: Partners in Productivity.
A conference for employers on family-friendly work practices. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Room
302, Stewart Center. Participating employers will be invited to join in a new membership organization to provide corporations with networking opportunities and resources
on family-friendly practices. Sponsored by the Center for Families in the School
of Consumer and Family Sciences, the offices of Vice President for Human Relations

- Friday, May 9. Nutrition and Cancer: Medical Nutrition Therapy and Cancer Prevention.

who work with oncology patients results of current research in cancer prevention
and treatment. Sponsored by Purdue Department of Foods and Nutrition. Cost of the

- Friday, May 16. Implementing Mathematics, Science and Technology Standards Into K-12
Classrooms. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Stewart Center. Conference features a keynote address
from Jerry Miller, curriculum designer with Keynote Publishing. Sponsored by the
Purdue's School Mathematics and Science Center and the Indiana Department of Education
Center for School Improvement and Performance. Cost is $25, and advance registration

- Through May 4. "Three Realists," an exhibit featuring Milwaukee artist David Lenz,
Bohemian artist Jaromir Kosar, and Kansas artist Mark Flickinger. Exhibit is dedicated

- Through May 4. "Bruce Beasley: Sculpture," the West Coast artist creates cubical

- Through May 8. "Jeanne Rockett: Paintings and Prints." This Michigan artist captures
