Stadium staff discovered that the signs were missing on Thursday (4/17), and told police that someone apparently broke into the stadium sometime in the past two weeks and unscrewed the signs from the concrete walls of the concourse area.
Purdue police Capt. Ronald J. Fosnaugh said the signs are of Purdue logos such as the Boilermaker Special, V-shaped signs that spell out "Football," and rectangular signs that say "Purdue Boilermakers." Some of the signs are as large as 3 feet by 6 feet, and they are made of half-inch-thick particle board with painted or vinyl backgrounds.
"The police department is requesting assistance from the public in the recovery of these signs," Fosnaugh said.
Persons with information about the stolen Ross-Ade Stadium signs are asked to contact Purdue police at (765) 494-8221.
