EDITORS: This calendar lists events on Purdue's West Lafayette campus or involving people or programs off campus during the next four weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**).

EVENTS
** Saturday, April 19. Brick Bowl. 10 a.m. In front of the Horticulture Building. Teams of landscape architecture students will try to convert 250 bricks and some mortar into mailboxes they had designed earlier.
** Saturday, April 26. Army ROTC Hall of Fame induction ceremony and reception, 9:30 a.m. in the Armory. A Gala Week activity.
** Saturday, April 26. The 1997 class parade and memorial service at John Purdue's grave, including the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the Class of 1946 for its part in redesigning the grave site. 11 a.m. A Gala Week activity. Tradition states the oldest living alumnus present leads the parade. Reunion classes will assemble between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.
** Saturday, April 26. Academy Park Dedication, 11:30 a.m. Academy Park is Purdue's newest green space, in honor of all Purdue faculty. It will be used as an outdoor teaching arena and leisure area. The new park is bounded by Stewart Center, Memorial Mall, the Purdue Memorial Union and the Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry. A Gala Week activity.
** Saturday, April 26. University Bands Department luncheon. 11:30 a.m. Elliott Hall of Music Stage. Luncheon is the launch of the department's first capital campaign. Tickets are $12 from the University Bands office at (765) 494-0770 until April 18. A Gala Week activity.
** Saturday, April 26. Founders Day Reception and Banquet. The reception will be 4:45-5:45 p.m. in the main lounges of Purdue Memorial Union. The 6 p.m. banquet in the North and South ballrooms of the union will feature Purdue President Steven C. Beering, entertainment by the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and special alumni awards. ** Tuesday, April 29. Professor Marianne Boruch, Department of English, reads from her books of poetry. 7:30- 9 p.m. East Faculty Lounge, Purdue Memorial Union. Presented
** Tuesday, April 29. Purdue Musical Organizations' Spring Show. 8 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms. Annual concert featuring performances by all ensembles in Purdue Musical Organizations.
** Thursday, April 10. Heat Transfer in Biomedical Engineering: From Unraveling Life Processes to Treating Cancer. 4 p.m. Room 161, Mechanical Engineering Building. Boris Rubinsky, professor of biomedical engineering, University of California-Berkeley. A Hawkins Memorial Lecture in Heat Transfer.
** Wednesday, April 30. The Jewish Studies Program at Purdue in Retrospect: Where Are We Going From Here? 12:30 p.m. Anniversary Drawing Room, Purdue Memorial Union. Gordon Young, associate professor of history and interim co-director of the Jewish Studies Program. Jewish Discussion Lecture Series.
