Campus Activities:
-- University Placement Service will sponsor its Job Search Services Showcase from
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in Room 102 Stewart Center. The program is
intended for students who will graduate during the 1997-98 academic year or who want
an internship during 1998. Students will be able to pick up an information and registration
packet and meet with placement service staff.
-- Purdue's Span Plan is accepting scholarship applications for the Cecelia Zissis
Graduate Student Grant. The annual award is presented to female, part-time graduate
student age 24 or older. The deadline for the $250 grant is April 15. Applications
are available from the Span Plan office, Student Services Annex One. For more information,

-- A study skills class for first-year students will be presented during the summer
session. GS290X will be taught 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 17 through

Alumni Honors:
-- Six alumni from Purdue's School of Civil Engineering have received Civil Engineering
Alumni Achievement Awards in recognition of their distinguished careers and achievements.
The recipients:
- Edgar B. Olson, chairman of the board for Kettelhut Construction, Lafayette
. Olson joined the company in 1949 while attending Purdue. During his 47 years with
Kettelhut, Olson worked as an engineer, superintendent, in-office estimator and project
manager. He became vice president and secretary in 1974, president-owner in 1975,
and chairman of the board in 1996.
- Graham S. Toft, Indianapolis,
president and chief operating officer of the Indiana Economic Development Council.
The IEDC is a nonprofit, public-private partnership responsible for shaping Indiana's
competitiveness in the new economy of the 21st century. It focuses on education and
training, infrastructure financing, international trade, sustainable development, and
regulation and tax policy.
